Experience

Software Engineer - Arrive Logistics
Arrive Logistics

August 2021 - present (3 years)

My team built a CRM from scratch in Kotlin/Micronaut and seamlessly dropped in the replacement to the legacy system, going live over a weekend. We also worked in C#, and utilized Servicebus, Docker, and Azure Cloud.

The following year we built a customer-facing shipper portal, also in Kotlin, but this time running on Kubernetes.

This year, I built a flexible search API with Elasticsearch that made predictions about the value a missing field was likely to take when the final data arrived based on the distribution of existing values. It was intelligent search that matched incoming ‘sparse’ data sets to the best-fit candidates.

Most recently I spearheaded the development of our ZoomInfo API integration.

Consulting Software Engineer - CouldBe, LLC (Contract)

November 2013 - March 2022 (8yrs 5mo)

Consulting with a local tax preparer over 7 years, I built a Customer portal using PHP, Javascript, Docker, MySQL, jQuery, Symfony, Kafka, AWS, Heroku, Stripe payment APIs, Backblaze B2 storage APIs and other technologies.

The product was used by hundreds of the company’s customers each year.

I acted as engineer, designer, developer and product manager. The user interface was based on Bootstrap and featured numerous interactive elements that came to life with Javascript AJAX and fetch calls.

Senior Infrastructure Operations Engineer Specialist

November 2016 - April 2019 (2 years 6 months)

Started at the junior level, promoted to senior about midway through.

Mainframe systems programming, specializing in hosting RHEL systems on zVM. Worked on a health check program in assembly to promote stability of multiple systems receiving millions of requests a day. Helped to envision a unified API for a new Chatbot initiative.

Elevator Pitch

I aim to be excellent, and I like doing hard things. I will get started right away, I will take broad responsibility and I will deliver results. Let's make your product better. I build bulletproof products, and prefer operating outside my comfort zone. As a child, I cut my teeth on VBA scripts in Microsoft Access with my Dad. When I was 14, I built an asset import tool and sold 100 copies to people In 9 different countries. Starting in college, I wrote a full customer portal for a local Tax company that became crucial to their operations.
